World without sincerity (Part II)

Filed under: Share ur story, sincerity - 29 Mar 2007

Hello! It is raining outside there. Suddenly my memory flies to the Johor’s flood tragedy in December 2006 (2nd wave follows on January). Maybe by this time the victims are still in traumatic condition and still get phobia whenever it is raining day.

Well, sometime in Kuala Lumpur and recently Shah Alam also was hit by flash flood (always, in fact). When these kind of floods happened related ministries&authorities, municipal councils and local government always will come out with plan to face another flood in future. The river that gradually getting shallower , drainage system etc will be the objects to be blamed easily. So the counter measure always to deepen river which involving a lot of budget, build a giant underground tunnel to deviate the water flow and so on. While the countermeasures are good and maybe the most efficient one, but lets don’t forget about the ROOT CAUSE. In manufacturing industry they have the term of “Why Why analysis”. So when we go down the road what will be the root cause we may find? For instance -  ①Why flood happened? Because the river is shallow ②Why the river shallow? Because many waste and rubbish inside the river ③ Why many rubbish? Because people throwing things inside the river ④ Why people throwing things? Because people don’t love the river, don’t love earth. ⑤Why people don’t love………. You got it? If you are familiar with old malay song “Bangau oh Bangau” you will smile. Maybe the founder of that why why analysis concept have heard of that song.

World without sincerity!!

Ever heard about sincerity? Most of us know the meaning of this abstract word. But my question is, does it really exist in this modern world, where people don’t care about others anymore? I’m wondering if I can find this magic word in our heart in this real world. Don’t understand what I’m mumbling about? I give you one very classic story that I read  in newspaper few years back. One container loaded with goods was falling from a ship near the coast. What do you think was happening? Crowd of people rushing to the sea to “save” the uninhabited container. They want to be number one to reach the container so they can get a good “catch of the day”. What do you think is happening around us now? Don’t they know that the goods were belong to someone else. Someone who surely was crying when the container disappeared to the sea.Why we can’t think of that small things. What would it be if they didn’t participate in that “free for all” session. The answer is life will goes on as usual. You won’t lost anything that you never owned in the first place. But our people don’t think so. They felt that they are very “RUGI” if they didn’t get something from the ill-fated container. Same goes to if someone found money somewhere. They tend to keep the money rather than trying to return it to their owner. Please folks, please imagine that someday you got unlucky and dropped your wallet in the middle of the crowd in Petaling Street. I do believe that the first thing you wish is one uniform clad policeman come by you and say is this what are you looking for? And you’d probably want to give a portion of your money to the good samaritan that found it and return to the policeman.
