Oh My Malaysian Soccer Team!

AFC Asian Cup 2007 Co-host Malaysian team lost again! This time to China with a 5 - 1 score. What is happening in Malaysian soccer? Some say the result is better, because they have predicted even worse result. Ha ha, my Saudi friends keep asking me “don’t you have among the best facilities in sports in Asia”. They are comparing Malaysian economic wealth with other 3 co-host nation. “But you got the worst result”, said them. I’m very ashamed that I turned the question to some other unrelated topic.

I used to be a hardcore Selangor team (one of Malaysian states Footbal Club, playing in M-League) fan, and of course Malaysian International Team. But, since a bribary cases struck Malaysian Football somewhere in early 90’s, things got worse and worse in Malaysian Football. Some said Malaysian player only play for money, they play hard with their M-League team  because if their team won the championship, they will get a good reward. But I don’t beleive in that theory. Professional Football Players do play for money, see the European players!, and yet, they play very good. Usually the more money they get, the more results they give ( except a few failure cases). I’d like to list out the cause and countermeasure for the fall of Malaysian Football, but it will takes maybe one thick book to finish. Maybe I’ll conduct a seminar on this (Who am I??), :) . The easiest way for FAM (Malaysian Football Association) to take a quickest measure is to study and understand the word “Professional”. That’s it for a beginning.

I’ll write again on this topic. Till then

This is not a novel to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force.
